The Daily Nebraskan reported 20 more rooms have been found full of bed bugs since the school launched inspections. At the meeting, students were able to ask residence life director Keith Zaborowskie and associate director of housing facilities Glen Schumann questions regarding the infestation and how pest control services will eradicate the bugs.
In addition, the university’s fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon recently purchased bed bug insurance to ensure the chapter is protected from financial hardship if infestations persist on campus. Because the fraternity hosts events at its home, many students frequently pass through, making it a likely spot for bed bugs to flourish, the Omaha World Herald reported.
If bed bugs were to spread to the fraternity house, the coverage would pay for pest control services to come in and exterminate the pests. The insurance also covers the fraternity from any liability associated with a nonresident being exposed to bed bugs while in the house, the source reported.
